What is API?

The Accessible Prosthetics Initiative (API) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to increase access to prosthetic technologies and care. We emphasize serving populations who do not have access to care through other avenues (e.g. individuals who are uninsured or under insured, individuals in remote locations, individuals with unique conditions). API tackles this goal in a holistic manner through community outreach, accessible device design, and educational initiatives. Explore our website to learn more!

Increasing Access to Prostheses and Care.

  • What We Do

We engage with amputees, health care professionals, and trainees to identify issues within the field of prosthetics that are not currently addressed by the market. We then develop strategic plans with our community partners on how to solve these issues and through the hard work of our students and volunteers, we help improve the future of prosthetic care!

  • Our Mission

The mission of the Accessible Prosthetics Initiative (API) is to increase access to prosthetic technologies and care, especially to individuals who do not have access through other means.

We do this through three main facets: educational initiatives, accessible device development, and community engagement.
